What I Walked Into

Ant activity is one of those problems that can start small and quickly become frustrating inside a home.

On a recent job across Auckland & the Southern Suburbs, a homeowner contacted Pest Patrol after noticing ants trailing near the kitchen bench, along a window frame and around the back door.

At first, they tried wiping the ants away and cleaning the area, but the ants kept coming back in the same spots. That usually tells me there is more happening than just a few visible ants.

This included sealing food properly, cleaning small spills quickly, reducing moisture near the kitchen and checking outdoor areas where ants may continue to trail.

The Outcome

After the service, the homeowner noticed a clear reduction in visible ant activity.

The trails near the kitchen and back door started to slow down, and the homeowner had a better understanding of why the ants were entering in the first place.

What I always explain is that ant control is not just about treating the ants you see. It is about understanding the trail, the source and the conditions that are allowing the activity to continue.

With the right treatment and a few prevention steps, the home became less attractive to ants and easier to keep under control.

Watch for ant trails after rain or warm weather changes.

These small steps can help reduce ant activity, especially when combined with proper treatment.
